I HAVE BEEN TO BETTER FOR CHEEPER ( recommend going to le vieux port instead!!!)

DONT RECOMMEND FOR THE PRICE!. I came to France for a 2 week holiday with my family and we stayed at 2 campsites, le vieux port and them this. IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES!!! The campsites very small and the pools much smaller then the pictures. there’s peeling paint everywhere, there’s massive... holes in the floor, overgrown plants and BAD FOOD. Most of the toilets in the public bathroom are chained up there’s also a MASSIVE wasp/hornet nest on top of the roof and the bathroom doest look live there cleaned. The food by the pool is terrible, paninis burnt, hotdog uncooked, chips super soggy. For the kids club they only speak French and actives aren’t even good. The entertainment is probably the best thing and is mid. The vans aren’t cleaned very properly and mine had a spider in the wall that kept laying eggs in the bathroom. Your ment to have a reservation for the restaurant and even if you don’t the service is VERY SLOW and the food is mid. I DONT RECOMMEND
Find out moreGood holiday but not a five star site

Firstly, I am told that sites are graded based on their facilities. Le Ruisseau offers a lot but has not continued to invest in the facilities, leaving it run down. It can in no way be compared to a five star hotel, or to other sites we have stayed at including La Garangeoire in the Vendee and St Avit... in the Dordogne.
Good - brilliant slides at the pool, fantastic food in the restaurant, great service in the bar, lovely atmosphere. The free shuttle bus gave my teens some independence.
Not so good - the site is very tired in general and needs some TLC. The parking area at our mobile had a massive trench due to rain which made our car bottom out. Reception said this would be sorted but it wasn't. My husband ended up scraping some gravel from a pile opposite and filling enough in so that we could park without damaging the car. There was an abandoned car with flat tires in the parking area opposite which is an unecessary eye sore. It's difficult to get into and out of the pool - the steps and steep sides are dangerous. The decking outside the bar is spongy and rotting - I'm sure someone will put a foot through it soon. Furniture at the bar is old and in some cases broken, it needs replacing.
Eurocamp - van was clean apart from stains on the curtains. Great BBQ. As we have found over the past few years Eurocamp service on sites has gone massvely downhill. The reps were not very helpful at check in. No information was given to us apart from what needed cleaning before we left. They made no effort to greet us when they came past the van, and there was no visit to check we were OK.
Area - we visited San Sebastian, Biarritz and St Jean de Luz which are all lovely towns. The beach at Bidart is good. The intermarche up the road is a great supermarket. The Basque region is very picturesque and has a completely different culture to the rest of of France and Spain.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday but I wouldn't return or recommend the site to others.

Poor experience at Le Ruisseau

This is absolutely not a 5 star campsite and the worst we have stayed at in
Our many years of visiting French and Italian campsites.. Accommodation is tiny, 3 bed mobile had 2 rooms that were twins, no access in or around the beds you had to crawl in from the bottom, no space to even get dressed, mobiles... were not clean, wifi purchased does not work, pools are filthy and both my children were sick during my stay, cars allowed to drive all over campsite even literally at the gate entrance to the pool
Whilst you are trying to take your shoes off at the mucky stony entrance, golf carts driven recklessly by staff, e scooters etc with no regulation made it a very dangerous place for kids. Staff in the small shop are pleasant, restaurant staff were not and we had a poor experience in the restaurant, ate off site every other night, thank god for the bus outside the door it’s the best part of the campsite, allows you to travel to Bidart/ Eglise/ St Jean de Luz etc we had some lovely meals in Pizza Borcelo in Bidart and also Le Peak in Bidart and Eglise is well worth a visit for food.. Biarritz/ St Jean de Liz and San Sebastián are all easily accesible and we enjoyed lovely day trips to these areas. The campsite itself I would NEVER return to, entertainment is shockingly bad, very little else to do, staff not pleasant and overall a huge let down of a campsite! AVOID!!

One star rating is too much

We stayed at Camping Le Ruisseau for 12 days and the overall experience was sadly very disappointing.
We arrived at 12pm and had to stand in the rain for 4 hours until the Eurocamp (Sh!tcamp) office opened. We met one rep and asked him if we could put our bags in the hut and were told they don't have... time as they have cleaning to do (warm welcome). When the check-in time finally arrived we were handled a map and keys.
When we arrived at the mobile home, we could not believe our eyes. We did not have basics such as a kettle, toaster, oven or BBQ and extra towels we ordered. We were only there a few hours and were already thinking about going home. The entrance to our mobile home was like a swamp the majority of the time. We ungraded to a premium mobile home and expected a bit more. If this is premium, the standard mobiles must be a right dump.
You are provided with an emergency contact number on arrival, but if you call after 10pm nobody will be available. On our second night, our neighbours had a full on Ibiza style disco, with hardcore trance music pumping until 6am, people drunk outside our mobile talking and banging off it. Not the holiday experienced I had imagined for my 2 year old.
We were there for 12 days and I don't think we spoke to one Eurocamp rep during our stay. You could see a few of them driving around in golf carts. The entertainment was horrendous and probably the worst we have ever experienced. I asked a rep about a shuttle bus and was told there is a bus but they don't know anything about it.
The green football fields had long grass and was very uneven and full of deep hole, which was extremely dangerous for children to play on.
Other than pizza or budgers there isn't many other food opens available. We ended up cooking most of the time and battled the exhausting climb up he hills to Lidl.
The camp is in the wilderness and if you want to leave, you are faced with hills, hills and more hills. I went to Bedart to see the markets, but they weren't on. Its a small village with absolutely nothing in it. We ate in La Pizzeria and I ended up getting food poison.
I can safely say that I will never be back to this camp.
Restaurants one to dodge-

The campsite is minded well. The Resturant is very poor for service. We had to argue for the boss to get us out good- watch out for the ignorant waitress!!! Overall I’d suggest eat off site unless catering for yourself. Shops very good and bakes each morning. Staff are very friendly at the shop. Shame... about the restaurant my average review is based on service. Very ignorantly addressing guests👎
