Nestling at an altitude of 500 metres in the heart of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, in Metzeral, the Chalets de la Wormsa campsite enjoys an ideal location along the river Fecht. This quiet, green site is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding tourist attractions, such as the famous GR5 hiking trail leading to the lakes in the valley, the Route des Crêtes, the summit of the Hohneck, or the ski slopes in winter. The famous Alsace Wine Route is just 25 minutes away by car, while the historic town of Colmar can be reached in 35 minutes. One of the hotel's major assets is its year-round indoor heated swimming pool (under a partially openable dome in summer), ideal for relaxing in front of the Vosges mountains and fir trees.
A wide range ofsports and leisure facilities are available on site and are freely accessible. Lovers of physical activity and sharing will appreciate the volleyball courts, the bowling green for games of pétanque, as well as the table tennis tables, table football and billiards. For younger guests, there is an outdoor play area with swings, an indoor games room with board games, and a bouncy castle during the summer. Please note that the estate favours a peaceful and relaxing setting: it does not offer organised entertainment or a children's club with entertainers. However, the estate is a superb base for self-guided nature outings or paid outdoor excursions.
In terms of services, the site boasts a 350 m² wellness and spa area, accessible free of charge to residents, including a jacuzzi (for those aged 16 and over), sauna and steam room (for those aged 18 and over), with the option of booking treatments and massages in a cabin. For your meals, the on-site restaurant serves authentic regional cuisine from Wednesday to Sunday (lunch and dinner), complemented by a takeaway service, a bar with terrace, as well as a buffet breakfast and a bread delivery service in July and August. Finally, the chalets (for 2 to 6 people) include all the comforts of home, such as free Wi-Fi connection in the bar/restaurant, free private parking, linen and towels provided, end-of-stay cleaning included in the price, beds made up on arrival at an additional cost, and a charging point for electric bikes. Pets are also welcome (at an additional cost).
Our top tips: Lac du Fischboedlé, hiking at Wormsa and on the GR5, discovering the Route des Crêtes and the listed Alsatian villages of Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Ribeauvillé, Eguisheim and Turckheim. Visit Colmar and the wine route. Longemer and Gérardmer swimming lakes.
If you arrive by car, there are three possible routes. From the north, take the A35 motorway to Colmar. From the south, the N83 to Colmar. From the west, the D417 via the Vosges and the Col d'altitude de la Schlucht (1139m) to Munster.
Follow the D417 towards Munster. From Munster, take the D10 to Metzeral. Once in Metzeral, head towards Mittlach and... drive past our establishment.
In winter, beware of the winter closure of the Route des Crêtes (D430). Avoid the Vosges; you can drive over the Col de la Schlucht if you have suitable winter tyres, but it is not advisable to do so in heavy snow. Plan a route via the A35 motorway or the N83 trunk road.
