Camping Wedderbergen is a versatile family campsite in Wedde, right in the heart of the green Westerwolde area in Groningen. There is plenty to do, especially for families. Camping Wedderbergen boasts the largest interactive water playground in the Netherlands! Several slides, fountains and water buckets ensure plenty of action. There’s also the paddling pool with a sandy beach, a favourite spot for families to play quietly with water and sand. If you enjoy getting out and about, this is the place for you. For example, hire a bike and explore the surrounding area, or set off for a walk, a day on the water or a visit to one of the attractions in Groningen, Drenthe or just across the German border.
Facilities at Camping Wedderbergen
At Camping Wedderbergen, you’ll find a range of facilities for both an active and a relaxing holiday. You can hire bikes to explore the surrounding area, and there are sports pitches, play facilities and fishing opportunities, amongst other things. A number of camping pitches are situated right on the banks of the Westerwoldse Aa, so you can cast a line straight from your pitch. For daily groceries and fresh bread rolls, pop into the mini-market. Thanks to the combination of practical facilities, leisure activities and the green surroundings, there’s plenty to do both on and off the campsite.
Facilities for children at Camping Wedderbergen
Children have plenty of space to play at Camping Wedderbergen. Scattered across the campsite are various playgrounds and play equipment, including a large sandpit near the main building. There is also a spacious indoor play centre where children can climb, slide and play. For younger children, there is a separate toddler area. Another special feature is the Water Valley with its natural play islands. Here, children can let off steam with attractions including a cable car, a play castle, water pumps and rope bridges. During the Dutch school holidays, the entertainment team also organises a varied programme for children aged 4 to 14.
Camping Wedderbergen Swimming Pool
A holiday at Camping Wedderbergen means endless water fun. The indoor swimming pool is a favourite with young and old alike and features a large slide, a rapids ride and a bubble bench. When the weather is fine, the roof opens and you can enjoy a lovely swim in the open air. For the very youngest, there is a separate paddling pool where they can splash about safely. In the interactive water playground, children can play amongst slides, fountains and water buckets. This means that Camping Wedderbergen offers plenty of opportunities for swimming and playing, whatever the weather.
Camping Wedderbergen Restaurant
You don’t need to leave Camping Wedderbergen for food and drink. The self-service restaurant serves, amongst other things, lunch dishes, snacks, pizzas and ice cream. The restaurant features a conservatory and a terrace, offering views of the nearby play facilities. Payment at the restaurant is by electronic means only. You can also visit the mini-market for fresh bread rolls and small groceries.
Surroundings of Camping Wedderbergen
Camping Wedderbergen is situated in Westerwolde, a green area that’s perfect for walking and cycling. Those who enjoy being out on the water can head towards the Oldambtmeer and Blauwestad. Walkers can explore the natural beauty of the Drentse Hondsrug or stroll to the seal-watching platform. There are also various options for a day out. For example, visit the fortified town of Bourtange, Wedde Castle or the monastery in Ter Apel. For families, Dinopark Tenaxx and WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo in Emmen make for great days out. What’s more, the German border is nearby, so you can easily take a trip to Lower Saxony or the Eemsland region during your stay.
