Erve Woolderink is a cosy organic farm in the small village of Rectum, in the middle of the green Twente countryside. Surrounded by old trees, meadows and hedges, the farm is situated in a peaceful, natural environment. It has belonged to the Woolderink family since 1400. The current farmhouse and the large barn were built in 1797 and are listed buildings. The farm, which covers around 35 hectares, including 5 hectares of woodland, is run organically and with a great love of nature.
Aberdeen-Angus cattle roam the farm - a special breed that is rare in the Netherlands. The black or reddish-brown cows and calves graze in the summer and are kept in an open barn in winter. The animals grow up naturally, with plenty of space. Everything on the farm is designed to be sustainable and animal-friendly. If you stay in the "Hooiberg", a barn-style holiday home, you have access to Wi-Fi, bike hire and many cycling and walking routes in the area.
The farm is a real experience for children. There is a large trampoline, go-karts, bicycles and plenty of space to run around. The children can fetch eggs from the chickens, feed the calves or simply play in the countryside. The farm is in a quiet location and safe for little explorers. There is also plenty to discover in the wooded area on the farm. A trip to the River Regge is particularly enjoyable. Families can go canoeing, fishing or boating there.
There is no restaurant on the farm itself. However, there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the surrounding area - from small cafés to cosy restaurants in the neighbouring villages.
Erve Woolderink is centrally located between the villages of Enter, Rijssen and Wierden. Enter is about 4 kilometres away and is easily accessible by bike or car. Here you can go shopping or simply stroll through the village. Rijssen is around 5 kilometres away and offers many shops, restaurants and lovely places to linger. Wierden is also nearby. There is a large swimming lake with sunbathing area and an 18-hole golf course. The surrounding area offers many opportunities for excursions into nature: hiking trails, cycle routes, canoe trips on the Regge, the Holterberg National Park, windmills, haystacks and much more. Erve Woolderink is the perfect place for anyone looking for peace, nature and real country life.
